  • This was another action packed weekend full of adventure, excitement, and sorrow. For those of you that don’t know keep Megan in your prayers as her mom passed away this weekend.

As many of you know, a bunch of us danced at the talent show and well we had a blast. It was the first time Matthew Norris has ever danced in his life and he did a great job. As a matter of fact I’m proud of everyone that dedicated their time and were able to put up with me in learning the dance. We had so much fun practicing and made many memories during that time. God is great because we were offered the opportunity to dance at 2 Passover Seder’s coming up and also for a youth outreach. Everyone on the team is soooo excited at the opportunities that are before us. Now we just need a name for our group, so if anybody has an idea for it let me know. The talent show was a blessing to be a part of and to watch. Oh I also ran sound this weekend by myself for the first time (well at Tikvat that is…) I guess it went ok as I didn’t have any complaints other than being late that morning.

Afterwards, since God blessed us with such beautiful weather, Snow Pea, the M’s, N’s, Deirdre, and I went to Belle Isle (I think that’s how you spell it). We spent the afternoon jumping from rock to rock and bathing in the sun. God never ceases to amaze me with his beautiful creation. Oh yeah we can’t forget the hero story…. I’m really not sure why Mary seems to be the focus of all the stories but for some reason whenever something happens she is smack dab in the middle of it all.

…We were about to go meet up with Amy and the gang when it happened. Jane was leading the way to meet everyone and Mary was right behind her. She took a step on this rock, and well needless to say the rock didn’t want her standing on it, so it moved throwing Mary’s balance off. I had this quick decision to make…

    A) Let her fall, and get out of the way before I got wet.

    B) Save her.

Considering the timeframe I had to work with I had to think fast. I didn’t have time to phone a friend as my cell phone was in my pocket, and I couldn’t use my 50/50 because there were only two choices. I could have asked the audience but then I would have to explain the whole situation and there wouldn’t be enough time. Needless to say, despite the cat throwing and the locking me out, (read previous posts for a cross-reference), and the not warning me of branches as she let go of them and they hit me in the face… I was there for her in her time of need. I quickly stepped forward and grabbed her before she fell into the nasty, muddy, and possibly disease infested, stagnant sewage water. It wouldn’t have been fun falling into that mess, and besides we had to hang out with her the rest of the evening. I didn’t want to have to smell her too. (Just Joking!!!!!)

We met up with Amy, Genevieve, and Luciano (sorry if I didn’t spell it right). I’d like to take a quick minute to thank Amy for sharing her strawberries and grapes with us. They hit the spot enough to tease me and make me even hungrier. A few minutes later Rebecca, Vinnie, and Jennifer showed up. We all sat around wishing we brought a guitar but it was all good. We ended up leaving to get some dinner and well on the way back I pulled a Mary, but where was she in my time of need??? Nowhere to be found.. hmmmmmm….

Foot stayed dry, but the leg got a little wet.

Anyways, later that night we went Go-Cart riding and some played miniature golf. Doug and Kelly met us there and well needless to say we had a blast. For everyone else out there you need to watch out for the ladies they are extremely competitive and dangerous when you put them behind the wheel of a go-cart. Joanna took me out in a corner laughing the whole time. Then my go-cart barely went around the track and the guy had to turn it off and start it back up. Everyone out there was aggressive which made for a fun evening. I think the best part was the last time we went on the course. We could only take out 10 cars and there were 11 of us that wanted to go so I doubled up with Judy for our last run for the evening. I was taking pictures while we drove around. During the first trip around we had a huge NASCAR style wreck with about 5 people in the second turn. Joanna was facing us going the wrong direction and Judy and I were in the wall. Snow Pea spent most of his time trying to pass Judy and I. Jane was the speeder for the game lapping everyone at least once. I remember at one point there was an accident (it might have been one that we created), and when that happens they slow down all the cars, but somehow Jane came flying up behind us and passed us. I think she was cheating personally. I would watch behind us as Judy drove letting her know which way people were coming and she did a great job at cutting people off. I think she gets it from Joel. Well we were taking the last turn with Snow Pea on our tail. He tried to pass us on the right so Judy cut him hard causing us to spin into the wall and making him wreck into the side of us. His facial expression was priceless….

  • Great story-teller indeed! Keep up the good work!

Pulled a Mary…. does that mean you fell into a sewage-polluted stream? Poor guy.

Hope the crew has more adventures I can read about!

BUT BESIDES THAT, you all did great on the dance. the n’s, the m’s,…and a pauley. that’s what you should call your dance team.

  • Awesome. I dig the pictures! Sounds fantastic. Good job being superman, Brian! Have a good one

  • this is definitely an awesome post. So interesting to read.

So yeah, thanks for understanding, I don’t really care about my birthday his year, as it is only 19…in fact, last week, I had been really bummed about it, because it was going to be a sucky birthday and it is just 19, and I felt 19 when i turned 18 and blah di dah…and then it was just Friday when I decided my birthday was going to be great, and it was going to be awesome, and then I had a horrible day Saturday, and then Sunday found out about Megan’s mom…so, basically after just getting my spirits up, I had them smashed down again. It’s alright though.

I loved the dance. I kinda wish I was in it, but I wouldnt dare impose. Actually, I have to choreograph a dance to audition for my dance major for next semester, and I have to find a song for that, so this will be interesting. I can’t wait to start taking te dance classes, like ballroom dances, and jazz dances, and hip hop…it’s going to be fabulous.

Anyway I’ll leave on that note. Talk to you later.

  • sounds like you had a great weekend! I want to thank you for letting me be a part of the dance. I had an awesome time!!! And thank you for being patient with me while I was learning the dance, and yes great memories were made!! Hope I will be able to hang out with you and the rest of the gang soon.
